In every program, there are always those deadbeat AWOL, Missing In Action sponsors who don’t give their downlines the time of day.
This usually happens when the sponsors are more devoted to promoting and recruiting for themselves than building and helping their team members.
Or it just means that if you call him/her and ask for guidance they’ll have nothing to tell you because they do not have a duplicatable system for recruiting people. Therefore, even if they did return your calls there might not be much they could do for you anyways.
So what should you, the stranded newbie network marketer do in order to get questions answered and the help you need to succeed with your promotion of self and primary?
The first option is always to go to the company support desk and open a ticket if your questions are company product or service-related. Granted, that all IBOs are spokespeople for the companies they represent, but the only questions you should ask your sponsors are marketing and prospecting-related questions.
If your questions are along the lines of “how do I recruit (more) people onto my team?”, then your options are:
- Go above your sponsor’s head and see if you can contact their upline, maybe they have better potential for helping you
- Attend the company training calls
- Learn from other top marketers
1- If/when you go to your upline’s upline for help, remember that there’s 2 degrees of seperation there, therefore this person stands to gain less by helping you than your immediate upline does. So don’t expect much there, but if this person is a true team leader they’ll already have resource available for you to use.
If your upline’s upline does in fact offer you help, support, and training and you don’t have anyone signed up under you yet, cancel your membership to that program and re-join under that more helpful sponsor, ie. your upline’s upline, since they’re more deserving of your enrollment!
2- Attend the company training calls to see if there’s any good value being offered there. In most cases, company training calls are merely case studies in edification of the people speaking and motivation for rallying the troops.
Oftentimes, these calls espouse using the tactics the dinosaurs of mlm and network marketing used to build their businesses starting 10-15 years ago. The most frequent recruiting method suggested on these company training calls is to “go to your warm market”, which means contacting family and friends about this, doing house parties, and practicing the 3 foot rule.
3- Learning from other top recruiters is really the way to go if your deadbeat upline sponsors aren’t replying back to you nor offering any resources that will help you recruit more people. The top recruiters in the network marketing industry don’t attend company training calls, they don’t need help from their uplines, and they are already proven commodities recruiting on a daily basis.
