Network Marketing 101 Of Top Income Earners

The Real Reason Why Most People Don’t Succeed In Network Marketing Is Because They Fail The 101 Steps More Than Anything Else

In this Internet age where information abound and technology dominates our daily lives… more and more people are finding new ways to leverage technological tools to build their network marketing businesses.

Around late 2005 / early 2006, two industry leaders, Mike Dillard and Ann Sieg each published a book teaching network marketers how to use the Internet to “attract prospects” to them instead them “chasing after the prospects.”

They even introduced the intriguing funded-proposal concept where the network marketer gets paid whether prospects join his/her business or not.

That was the beginning of what is known today as “attraction marketing” (which is misinterpreted by most people, but more on that later).

The idea of using Internet marketing strategies to generate one’s own branded leads is a great concept, and it definitely works!

But is it really true that the supposed “old school” methods are “dead?”

Well, I’m here to inform you that answer is an emphatic NO.

It really comes down to the network marketer’s personal preference!

Think about it… if the Internet, attraction marketing way is the magic bullet, we would have heard about a lot more new 6, 7, 8 figure earners from one company after another.

But we don’t!

Why?

Because it is NOT the deal breaker.

I’d like to share three Network Marketing 101 basics that are crystallized from my seven years of experience marketing professionally in this industry on and offline and interviewing over 10 six-, seven- and eight-figure earners in this industry -

1) The most critical piece of a network marketing business’ long term success is the individual.

The level of leadership skills and marketing skills a person possesses will determine the success of that person more than anything else.

I teach a concept to my teammates and clients called The Network Marketing Triad which describes the three components that make up a network marketing business:

  • Component #1 – Your Network Marketing Company/Opportunity
  • Component #2 – Your Marketing / Business Training & Support System (including all tools)
  • Component #3 – You

Imagine a situation in which you and another distributor from your company stand in front of the same prospect…

You both are

  • signed on to the same company…
  • have access to the same products…
  • are trained and supported by the same system…
  • use the same business tools to help you build your businesses…
  • get paid under the same compensation plan…

SO, what’s the motivated prospect to do?

Who does he/she choose?

Who would YOU choose if you were the prospect?

It’s probably safe to assume you’d pick someone you like and trust more… someone you believe can lead you to success.

2) Building relationships correctly and building up leaders in one’s business (including oneself) are what bring in wealth in this industry.

Marketing skills are important and essential…

But the long term success of a network marketing business relies on the individual being the best leader possible.

That’s it.

We’ve all seen leaders in the industry say their way is the only way (regardless how many times they tell you that they support the free flow of ideas and information…).

It’s highly debatable whether that’s a good practice for the sake of simplicity and duplication.

However, this fact remains:

There are leaders that make multiple millions annually by building their businesses solely offline through existing warm market contacts and meeting new people.

There are leaders that make multiple millions annually by buying MLM leads, calling and recruiting them.

There are leaders that make multiple millions annually by building their businesses online (very rare).

The vast majority of 7+ figure earners in the industry are still building their businesses offline for the most part but with the help of a few Internet age tools such as Skype, Aweber (or the likes) and Outlook.

You see… EVERYTHING works.

The question is “what are YOU willing to do?”

And are you going to work at it every single day.

Practice, adjust and just go out and do it.

Adjust some more and do it again.

Ummm… repeat.

3) The debate of Warm Market vs. Cold Market vs. Attraction Marketing is just smokes and mirrors.

The definition of a “warm,” “cold,” or “hot” lead/prospect is based on the intensity of the relationship and trust that have been established between the network marketer and the prospect.

It’s safe to say that by warm market we’re most likely talking about our family and friends.

Since we all have a fixed number of family members (for the most part), we can certainly continue to expand our circle of friends…

Right?

After all, we weren’t born with all the friends we have today, were we?

And since we’ve agreed that our ability to build better relationships will determine our success in this industry…

….which drives home an important conclusion I’ve reached after interviewing and studying the success of all the hugely successful leaders in the industry, past and present.

Growing a team really is about building a BIGGER WARM MARKET.

You better believe the same gurus/trainers whose sales letters say it’s dumb to contact your warm market… are making most of their money from their own warm market contacts.

Those warm market contacts are sitting at a place called their e-mail lists.

So, there you have it.

If you keep these three time-tested principles from top industry earners in mind, you are ahead of practically 99% of the industry.

    I essentially never coach new people to approach friends and family – that’s the quick road to disappointment and despair.
    The key to success in MLM – Stick-to-it. Don’t give up. try new things, see what works, what you like, and settle on 5 thing syou love and do it.
